Patients requiring admission to DeKalb Health’s intensive care unit are welcomed to a new state-of-the-art critical care department. The eICU features advanced monitoring technology that connects patients with offsite critical care specialists from Parkview Health. Cameras allow the specialist to speak directly to the patient and nursing staff, and patient vitals can be instantly transmitted and continuously monitored. This partnership between DeKalb Health and Parkview Health is dedicated to saving lives and providing peace of mind to patients and their families.

In addition, the new facility features larger rooms and emphasizes comfort for both patients and their families. Designed with the input of caregivers, the unit provides nurses’ stations outside each room, as well as windows into the rooms, to ensure direct patient observation at all times.
